02/How it works
Three steps from bank to statements.
01
Connect your accounts
Connect each bank and card once. New transactions arrive on their own.
02
Press Auto-Categorize
Your rules go first, AI suggests an account for what they miss, and anything it is unsure of waits for you. Nothing posts until you confirm.
03
Read your statements
Income statement, balance sheet and trial balance. Each account on a statement opens to the lines behind it.
03/Bank feeds
Every account, synced. Every transfer, recognized.
Connect an account once and its transactions arrive on their own, with the bank’s full memo, never a cleaned-up guess.
Transfers, matched
Money moved between your own accounts waits in Needs matching as a pair, so it never counts as income or as an expense.
Payouts, taken apart
A card processor’s payout is matched to the sales, refunds and fees inside it, so the books show gross sales, not the net deposit.
Pending waits
A transaction the bank still shows as pending stays out of your books until it clears.

04/Categorize
One click sorts the month. You still decide.
Auto-Categorize runs when you press it. Your rules take what they know, AI suggests an account for the rest, and anything it is unsure of waits for you. Finalize all posts only what you have confirmed.
Rules you can read
A rule files a vendor’s transactions the moment they sync. Every rule is one you can open, read and change.
Split rules
A shared bill splits across several accounts the same way every time.
Post what is ready, at once
Finalize all posts every categorized transaction on the page that is ready to post, and nothing else.

05/Ledger
A general ledger you can click through.
Pick an account and see every line that moved it, with a beginning balance and a running balance that has to end where the trial balance does.
Reclassify in place
Posted something to the wrong account? Select the lines, pick the right account, and they move with the bank side still balanced.
Journal entries by hand
An adjustment goes through the same door as everything else, so it cannot post out of balance or into a locked month.
A full audit trail
Removing or rewriting a posted entry keeps a complete copy of what it said, so a correction never erases the original.

06/Reports
The statements a CPA would hand you.
Income statement, balance sheet and trial balance for any period, with the income statement month by month or as one column. Each account opens to its general ledger for the same dates.
Trial balance that foots
Every account’s beginning, activity and ending, with debits equal to credits to the cent.
A dashboard from the same ledger
Revenue, margins, net income and cash on hand, with revenue and expenses month by month, read from the same entries as the statements.
Exports to CSV
The general ledger, the trial balance and the income statement download as CSV.

07/Controls
Books that cannot drift out of balance.
The rules live in the database, not in a screen. They hold for every entry, from every path, for everyone who keeps the books.
Balanced or refused
An entry that does not balance is refused when it commits. There is no way around it.
Lock the month
A locked month will not take a posting from anyone, including you.
Book health
Checks for the damage a hand-posted entry can do, run before you trust a report.
Reconcile to the cent
Match each account to its bank statement, line by line, until the difference is zero.
Year-end close
One step closes the year’s income and expenses into Retained Earnings.
No Opening Balance Equity
Opening balances post to Retained Earnings, because that account means nobody decided.
08/Entities
Every business, and every property, on its own books.
Each business is its own entity with its own chart of accounts and ledger. A rental property is its own entity too, so each one has its own income statement. Your personal books sit beside them, and you switch without signing out.
Workspace
Your businesses and the people you share them with: a partner, a spouse, a co-owner.
Entity
A business, a rental property or your personal books, each with its own chart.
Books
The same rules on every set of books, whoever keeps them.
Personal or business?
On your personal books, each transaction asks one question. Yes moves it into the business’s books. No keeps it out.
09/AI apps
Ask your books from ChatGPT or Claude.
Connect 42six to any AI app that speaks MCP. It can read your reports and ledger, and when it wants to change something, you see the change first and approve it.
01
Connect
Sign in from the AI app and choose which books it can see. Changes are off until you switch them on.
02
Ask
“What did we spend on software this quarter?” It answers from the same reports you see.
03
Approve
A change arrives as a preview. Nothing posts until you apply it, through the same checks as everything else.
10/Your data
Bring your history in. Take your books anywhere.
Bank exports
Read a bank’s CSV export in your browser, review it, then import it into one account.
Your chart of accounts
Start from a CPA’s standard chart, or bring your own from a CSV file.
Opening balances
A trial balance from your old system arrives as one balanced opening entry.
General ledger history
Years of entries import from CSV. A file lands whole or not at all, and sending it twice posts nothing new.
Your books, exported
Your chart of accounts, journal entries, bank transactions and trial balance in one Excel workbook.
A REST API with your keys
Keys you limit to the books and data you choose, and revoke whenever you like.
11/Who keeps the books
You keep them, or a CPA does.
You
Categorize, reconcile and lock each month yourself, with every check above behind you.
Tim, a licensed CPA
Tim can keep the books for you: categorizing, reconciling and a monthly close. A question about a transaction comes to you as a task.
Someone you trust
A partner, a spouse or a co-owner joins your workspace as a member, with a second factor if they want one.
[12] Security
Your books are evidence. We keep them that way.
Security · Spec
- S.01The ledger is guarded
- Your browser can read your books but never write them directly. Every change goes through a checked door.
- S.02Your books are yours alone
- Each workspace is isolated in the database, row by row.
- S.03Bank credentials encrypted
- Connection credentials are encrypted and never reach your browser.
- S.04Two-factor, your choice
- Turn it on and every sign-in asks for it before your books open.
- S.05A trail behind every change
- Who changed what, and when, is recorded on every edit.
- S.06Locked periods stay locked
- A closed month cannot be edited out from under you.
13/What’s next
When sign-ups open, connect a bank and see your month sorted.
Core and Pro carry every feature on this page; they differ only in how many books you keep. On Managed, a CPA keeps them for you.
